Search
A person responsible for coordinating the census searches for potential candidates in each category. Potential candidates are contacted and invited to submit their applications.
Form
Interested parties can submit an application by filling in the appropriate form.
Anyone from the Black community can enter. The main condition for eligibility in a category is that the projects or achievements submitted have been marketed (a strategy put in place to publicize and promote the projects or achievements) or have had notable outreach.
It is possible to enter more than one category, but one form must be completed for each category. Only one project or achievement can be submitted per category.
An application can be submitted by the individual or a third party (with authorization).
To submit an application, submitters must complete the online registration form and provide the required documentation by August 31, 2023.
It is important to complete the form online. You can save the form and only submit it once it has been completed.
A recent, professional photo of the candidate must also be uploaded, and must comply with the following specifications: 300 dpi, jpeg format, portrait and upper body. Horizontal (landscape) orientation is preferred. The submitted photo will be used for promotion and nomination purposes. Maximum image size = 10MB.
It is essential to submit links to your multimedia content when you apply. Links can be to Vimeo, Youtube, Daily Motion, Spotify or other broadcast platforms. In some categories, images (jpeg format) must also be provided.
Entrants are personally responsible for ensuring the quality of the material submitted (audio or visual). Jurors must rely on the material attached to the form.
Text and photo files must be clearly identified (with your name or project name) to facilitate archiving.
Juries are formed according to the specific professional qualifications of their members, and are made up of three (3) people per category for the cultural evening and six (6) people for all media categories.
Jury members must meet to deliberate. Jury decisions as to nominations and selection of winners must be by majority after obtaining the broadest possible consensus.
Each member is carefully selected on the basis of excellence in his or her field, contribution to the industry and recognition by peers.
Juries must follow a rigorous process to evaluate each of the nominations submitted by category. The first round will determine the five finalists per category. The second round will determine the recipient by category.
